Hogook’s ‘He never washes his face’

A monastic said to Master Hogook, “How is it when a person has forgotten both mind and things?” The master said, “He never washes his face.”

Student: “Why doesn’t he wash his face?”

Master: “Because he has no face to wash.”

Commentary:

The Buddha’s face has no surface for dusts to land on.
